Hot, muscular, college football jocks going at it for three and a half hours tonight, whew! What else could a gay sports fan ask for? Well maybe nude football — quick someone call Bravo, I just got an idea for a new show.
OK, back to sports for a minute. Get ready for a close, hard fought, defensive battle when #1 Alabama meets #2 Texas for the BCS National Championship Game on ABC @ 8:00PM EST tonight. We’ve scouted both teams to not only to tell you who we think’s gonna win but also what eye candy to look out for.
Championship game hotties for both Texas and Alabama are below but here’s our 2009 Top 25 College Football Hotties review, in case you missed it.
Game Breakdown
Quarterbacks
Colt McCoy, although he struggled under pressure from Oklahoma and Nebraska, has completed just over 70% of his passes for 3500 yards versus 61% and 2400 yards for Greg McElroy.
Advantage Texas
Running Backs
Both teams have a stable of backs they can count on but I expect Alabama to grind it out behind the physical, punishing style of Heisman winner Mark Ingram to setup the pass.
Advantage Alabama
Receivers
Julio Jones and Marquis Maze of Alabama vs Jordan Shipley and James Kirkendoll of Texas. Although Shipley may have more receptions and yardage Julio Jones is healthy and was much improved down the stretch.
Draw
Offensive Line
The Longhorns have allowed 30 sacks this season in 468 pass attempts while the Crimson Tide’s line cleared the way for Mark Ingram to win a Heisman Trophy and only allowed 15 sacks in 334 pass attempts.
Advantage Alabama
Defense
Alabama is No. 2 run defense (78.1), No. 8 pass defense (163.8) and No. 2 total defense (241.7). Texas No. 1 run defense (62.9), No. 25 pass defense (188.9) and No. 8 total defense (251.8).
Draw
Special teams
Texas Senior Jordan Shipley handles punt returns and has two touchdowns on the season. Alabama ranks 64th in the nation in punt return defense. Texas ranks fourth in the nation in kickoff returns, and the Longhorns get a big boost with the return of D.J. Monroe, who averaged 35.8 yards on 14 returns with two touchdowns.
Advantage Texas
Prediction
Alabama 20, Texas 17.
Alabama Crimson Tide Hottie Watch
#10 Freshman QB A.J. McCarron
McCarron will not see any playing time but he’s often spotted on the sidelines signaling in the plays.
There’s no truth to the rumors that after high school Zac Effron walked on to play football at the University of Alabama under the name A.J. McCarron. Although if you look at the rest of the Crimson Tide hotties below you may notice that they really like the Zac Effron mop head look.
And although I would stop short of calling it a man crush, I can verify that every college age white kid in the state of Alabama has Zac Effron hair, wears khaki pants, boxer not briefs — lot’s of independent research on that one — Polo shirts, Mocs, and either an Auburn or Alabama hat 365 days a year.
It’s that individualism and diversity of thought that makes my home state so great!
