SportsFags 2010 March Hotness Tournament – Hottie 16

Soccer and rugby jocks make up almost half of the remaining bracket in our March Hotness Tournament. Gay sports fans, straight women and lots of bi-curious boys voted up these 16 athletes as the hottest of the 64 who made it into SportsFags 2010 March Hotness Tournament.

#14 Seed and March Hotness' Cinderfella Benny Feilhaber.

#14 Seed and March Hotness' Cinderfella Benny Feilhaber.

The only remaining Cinderfellas in the March Hotness Tournament is Brazilian-born soccer star Benny Feilhaber and NASCAR’s Carl Edwards. Feilhaber, a former UCLA Bruin, takes on the #2 seed, David Beckham, in the Hottie 16. All four #1s and #2s advanced to the Hottie 16, with the highest seeds eliminated being two #3s, Dwight Howard and Michael Phelps, in the first round.

How to vote in the Hottie 16

  3. Scroll down to the next match up.
  4. Keep your pants on, especially if you’re at work or in that car in the park.

The QB Debate

No I’m not going to debate that Peyton is the best QB in the league; you can’t debate such an obvious fact as that. This particular debate is about something else. I’ll let the great Ray Lewis and Rodney Harrison explain it:

The new roughing the passer rules that have been enacted are in place to protect the QB from serious injury. I support that concept because even though it is football and it is a physical sport, no one wants to see someone get injured. Leave that stuff for the thrill seekers watching NASCAR for the crashes. However, that being said, IT’S FOOTBALL!!! Give me a break! Rules prohibiting helmet to helmet tackles or spearing and leading with your helmet are all great rules, but rules attempting to punish a player for something uncontrollable like his momentum as he’s running to do his job and make a sack are ridiculous. I think that these rules are created with the best of intentions, but the problem with them is that impossibility to standardize them. The calling will always be at the discretion of the referee making the call and therefore mistakes will always be made. This leaves the league open to the criticism that certain QBs (Brady, Manning’s, Romo) are getting special treatment while your Russell, Quinn, and Campbell get ignored.

It seems that the next step is to make it so that the QB simply plays in a bubble and can’t be touched at all. I don’t tune in every week to watch touch or flag football. As Lewis said, they’re playing too and wearing the uniform like everyone else. When you lace up those cleats and step out onto that field, you do so with the acknowledgment of what you’re getting yourself into. Stop coddling the QBs and let them play the game!

King James Dismisses Braylon Edwards

I guess LeBron James is the King of Cleveland after all. Want proof? For starters LeBron was able to convince warm-weather friendly Shaquille O’Neal to spend his winter playing with the Cavaliers. Shaq’s other stops around the NBA have been in Florida (Miami and Orlando), California and Arizona. Shaq’s new nickname, ‘The Big Chill.’

Then just one day after King James tells us about a disloyal subject in his kingdom, said subject is summarily dismissed. The Cleveland Browns wasted no time trading wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the Jets after he allegedly assaulted a friend of his royal highness. There were several other issues with Edwards both on and off the field but nothing will lose you favor more quickly than upsetting the King.bobeck_mimi2

Just think of other Cleveland catastrophes that LeBron could’ve prevented if only his reign over the sixth city would’ve started sooner. I bet the Browns would’ve never left for Baltimore, the Cuyhoga would’ve never caught fire or perhaps Mimi would’ve chosen a different shade of eye shadow for the Drew Carey Show.

Imagine the possibilities — could LeBron use his power to make Brady Quinn a good quarterback or even better, could he convince Brady to like boys? Oh, wait by the looks of these photos he’s already warming up to the idea. Why can’t straight guys go shirtless when grabbing each other’s crotches?
