The sports I am really looking forward to in this order are, hockey, hockey and hockey. The US has a chance, a small chance from what I am hearing. Thank God we have Ryan Miller from Buffalo as we will need him. But the talk up north is all about a potential gold medal game pitting Canada ( Sydney Corsby) against the Russians ( Malkin-Ovechkin) which would of course REALLY be something. Bring it on. I can't wait! U-S-A! U-S-A!!!!

If it has an engine, goes insanely fast, crushes things and is generally awesome, I'm into it. Let me know what your into and we can chat about it. Below is my beloved Sylvester. He is a 2005 Dodge Neon SRT4 Stage IIIr (Turbo Toys) with many...MANY more goodies. Good for ~400fwhp to ~450whp in high octane mode (HOM). Wanna go for a ride?

Well I don't tend to watch collage ball, but my buddies do and keep me as much in the loop as possible. For me, there's just too many teams too many conferences and too much going on to think about for my little brain lol. But I'm wondering if you guys who do watch it have any thoughts/predictions about the draft? The most I can say is I think/hope the Giants go for a deep threat receiver to bring themselves back to super bowl caliber, and the Colts finally do what I've been wanting them to do for years and beef up the defense a bit. I like their speed and their pass rush, but a monster in the middle to stop the run would make them damn near perfect. What'd you guys think?

Ryan Miller #1 star of th egame IMO, followed closely by Bryan Rafalski. I loved how the US counterpunched Canada all night long, but esp. in the first period. Outshot but not outdone. I thought we were going to get scorched by Canada who looked tight to me. Got the inside track now. This should be a huge dose of confidence for the US. Job well done!!!

So what are our general thoughts on Tebow's Super Bowl ad concept? For anyone who isn't aware, Tim Tebow, the air-not-so-apparent, is planning on participating in a pro life ad spot to be run during the Super Bowl. Tebow's religious beliefs have been made rather public before this as well with the Gator placing bible verse in his eye liner (lol how ironic it seems when you say it that way,) but this is a rather prominent star and perceived up and comer taking a stand on TV in an AD to be run during the most watched sporting event of the year. Does this help or hurt the future Tight End (or wild-cat-option-not-really-starting-material-QB)?
Personally, I'm of the opinion that the Super Bowl should act as more of a safe haven for us fans where we can spend 3 hours or so not worrying about politics, or a specific star's politics at the very least, and just enjoy the games and the great commercials that millions of dollars in ad space money went into creating. Listening to some religious pro-life blow hard cram his pointless opinions down my throat is not how I wanna spend my football high holy day. Esp when my Colts are playing!!!

Focus on the Family is spending $2.5 million on a Super Bowl ad.

http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2010/01/16/Antigay_Group_Buys_Super_Bowl_Ad/

I will use my blog to raise opposing voices. My idea is to make this part of "The Soloist Project", a grassroots letter-writing campaign.

http://meetadamandsteve.blogspot.com/2009/12/soloist-project.html

Since I don't know sports, I'd like your advice on how to do this in an effective way. What sort of message would sports people respond to? Here's my first-draft idea for a sample letter to the editor. Please comment and make whatever alternative suggestions come to mind. I need help help from sports people to communicate effectively.

To the Editor:

While watching the Super Bowl on February 7 you may notice an advertisement that promotes family values. At least that's what "Focus on the Family" wants you to believe. They want it badly enough to spend two and a half million dollars on it.

If you think for a moment it will become clear to you that "Focus on the Family" does not focus on anything of the sort, and that the advertisement does not promote anything. Their focus is on gay people, and their intent is to make sure that gay people remain second-class citizens.

If "Focus on the Family" truly cared about families they would focus on reducing the divorce rate. But they are not interested in telling people to be responsible for their own actions. Instead, they want to convince you that a minority group is the problem. They want you to believe that a minority group is a threat to you.

As you watch the advertisement, please think for a moment. Think about the fact that "Focus on the Family" spent two and a half million dollars in order to prevent people from having the same rights that you and I enjoy. And think about the fact that, if gay people were to gain more rights, it would not hurt your and my rights in the least. If you don't believe that, then go to the internet and look up the current Proposition 8 trial. Not one of the Proposition 8 supporters has been able to name a single way in which same-sex marriage would hurt conventional marriage.

Their focus is not on the family. Their focus is on bitterness, anger, fear and hate. That's a heavy burden. Don't let them hand it to you. And if you are already carrying that burden, then please consider looking a gay person in the eye and seeing that person as a human being just like you. Please consider laying your burden down.

I hope so. I feel bad for Jim Mora. Going to miss his handsome mug, but the Hawks need a MAJOR overhaul from top to bottom. Had to be one of, if not the worst year in a decade as far as the Hawks are concerned. The last half of this season was just God awful. Supposedly they have lured Jim Carroll of USC back into Coaching with a reported $ 7 million dollar contract. I will be watching the sports headlines for more on this.

Are the Vikings serious? With losses coming late to the Panthers (6-8) and the Cardinals (9-5) does the question have to be asked about the Vikings' staying power? or is it just that all teams are destined to drop a couple? Is Favre too old to last a full season and is he showing his age, or have teams just lucked out and found out ways to beat them?

You can begin a new topic in one of two ways.

1. Select a topic category, like baseball, from the list of forum categories and then fill out the New Topic in this Forum form with a title, post and tags separated by commas.

2. From the main forums page sportsfags.com/forums scroll down to Latest Discussions and click on the Topic -Add New link in the gray bar. In the Add New Topic form give your topic a title, complete the body (post) and enter tags separated by commas. Using this method to start a new topic you must give your topic a forum category from the drop down box underneath the tags section.

Whichever method of creating a new post you choose don't forget to click the Send Post button when you are ready to submit. You can always go back and edit later if you make a mistake.

I was wondering if anyone has ever come across a professional athlete that you just know or really really believe plays for our team? Personally, I saw Matt Hasselbeck (starting QB for the Seattle Seahawks) in an interview or something a couple years ago and ever since I've had a strong that suspicion that he's come into close personal contact w/ a cock other than his own at some point in the past. I'd also add Brady Quinn to the mix, but I'm not sure if that's only b/c I wish he were gay or not so don't quote me on it lol. And J.J. Redick, Guard for the Orlando Magic I place in the same boat. What do you think?

Is it time for ESPN to move Lee Corso into retirement? I really Like Lee Corso but watching him struggle to put his thoughts together on national tv is sad.

I can't believe its this time of the season already! This should be close to a blowout. Poor Miss. Valley State, they open against Wash. State tonight and then play the Zags Saturday night. The pundits still seem to think Gonzaga will be in first at the end of the year, but they have alot of rookies. With Bouldin and Gray leading the way, I feel pretty good about our chances though......
