joe-alexander15It’s a long way from Taiwan to the NBA but Milwaukee Bucks forward Joe Alexander is used to over coming the odds.

Alexander was born in Taiwan and during childhood his family lived in Maryland, China and Maryland again. Alexander didn’t wasn’t a starter until his senior season in high school and thus received no attention from Division I schools.

However, playing at the collegiate level was his dream so he enrolled in prep school at Hargrave Military Academy and two years later he was a starter at Division I West Virginia.

joe-alexander41In his junior year Alexander added 20 pounds to his frame which helped him lead the Mountaineers to the Sweet 16. For the season Joe averaged a team-high 16.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Alexander was named to the first-team All-Big East squad and he decided to turn pro after his junior season.

The eighth overall draft pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2008 draft has yet to pay off and some question whether he will ever be able to compete at this level. I wouldn’t count him out just yet.

Alexander will be a free agent after the 2009-10 season and thank god he’s not likely to re-sign with the rebuilding Bucks. This hottie deserves some more face time, look at that shirtless picture of Joe Alexander above. He’s a thuggin stud!
