Don’t be fooled by New York Knicks forward Danilo Gallinari’s adorable good looks, the second year player from Italy is deadly from deep and leads the NBA in Three-Point Field Goals Made (30), Three-Point Field Goal Attempts (66), Three-Point Field Goals Per 48 Minutes (5.21) and hottest European player in the NBA. OK, so I made that last category up.
Danilo who’s just 21 years old played for three years in Europe before joining the Knicks, a team coached by his dad’s former teammate Mike D’Antoni. Just one game into 2008, his rookie season, Danilo developed back problems which kept him sidelined for a couple of months. However, Gallinari, who measures out at 6-10 and 225 lbs, has seen his playing time double this year as he demonstrates he can play an important role in the ongoing efforts to rebuild the Knicks.
And with the Knicks picking up the option on Danilo’s contract through the 2011-12 NBA season, gay sports fan in New York will have plenty to cheer for during those cold NY winters.
