Syracuse Sophomore DE Mikhail Marinovich comes from a football family whose off the field exploits overshadow their legacy. Mikhail’s big brother Todd’s history of drug abuse and sexual freakiness is well chronicled and if you are too young to recall his story it’s a must read.
Mikhail’s father Marv lettered in football at USC (1959, 1961, 62) and played professionally for the Oakland Raiders. In between nights at the county jail, brother Todd, moonlighted as a quarterback at USC (1989-90) and later played for the then Los Angeles Raiders.
Considering Mikhail’s upbringing, it’s noteworthy that he has only had a couple of run ins with the PoPo. In March of 2008 he was arrested for being a drunk dumbass after breaking into the Syracuse equipment room with another player. Then in November of 2008, a Hookah lounge he co-owns caught fire from what investigators determined to be ‘careless disposal of charcoal’.
At Syracuse Mikhail is listed as a reserve defensive end and if you can’t start at Syracuse then you should start preparing for life after football right away. Marinovich must’ve understood this reality before he left Southern California for Syracuse. How else would you explain Mikhail’s attempts to launch a modeling career (photos below) before he relocated to NY?
