Steve McNair’s violent death is sure to be the thing people will remember as they consider his legacy. “He was murdered” will be the first thing that comes to mind when his name is brought up. Few of us will first remember him as a former NFL MVP. And, that’s sad.

It’s not our fault that we will recall McNair’s, still yet to be solved, murder before his greatness. No, no, no it’s his fault. He’s now forever in that fallen-hero category without a chance for a do over. I’m not casting blame or looking down on Steve McNair because we all keep secrets in the closet. It’s unfortunate for his family that the closet door is now wide open and there’s a lot of people peeking inside. It’s beginning to look like this ‘family man’ was anything but as of late. That’s a tough accusation cause only two people know the details of his relationship with his wife, but if reports are to be believed his wife was first made aware of this extra-curricular activity upon being informed of his murder.

I feel for the 4 kids who are now are fatherless. They are the innocent victims here. Yes, Steve is a victim as well. At this point in the investigation it doesn’t appear that his alleged trangressions, if any, warranted this end. Yet, his family will have to suffer for his self-centered, immature ways. It’s amazing to me that professional athletes who will do whatever is necessary to protect their teammates, even in the most egregious situations, can not protect their own family from themselves.

This is not an indictment of Steve Mcnair; it’s human nature. I know that I have put myself in situations that, in retrospect, jeopardized my life and would inflict great pain on my family had I not gotten out of it. It’s selfishness personified, doing what pleases you and not considering it’s impact on others. I’m sure if Steve was granted another chance to consider what unbelievable pain his kids are going through he would reconsider hooking up with an underage Dave and Buster’s employee.

I had some jokes in here about him meeting her on the Dance Dance Revolution game and her Iranian background and firing bullets into the air but I self-edited cause this is just too sad for his family.
